The following includes examples of projects that require a building permit. If you are unsure if your project requires a permit, call Community Development at (520) 417-4413.

Plans must be submitted as a complete set in a single PDF file. We must be able to edit plans, so please make sure all security is turned off and there are no passwords on the file. Do not flatten plans. Any individual documents submitted will not be accepted as part of your submittal if they are not part of a complete set of plans. If you have a large-format plan set, please email the planning department for a link to a cloud folder to upload your plans.

Work performed in the public right-of-way (off property) and pool/spa drain applications are handled through Sierra Vista's Public Works Department. Permit applications, contacts for submittals and questions, and general information regarding this type of permit can be found on the Engineering page.

Home-based business permits and zoning compliance/occupancy applications are tied to the business license application forms managed by the City Clerks office. These can be found on the City Clerks page.
