The choice of library materials by customers is an individual matter. Responsibility for the reading of children and adolescents rests with their parents and legal guardians. While a person may reject materials for him/herself and for his/her children, he/she cannot exercise censorship to restrict access to the materials by others.

The Sierra Vista Public Library supports intellectual freedom and endorses the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, along with the Freedom to Read, and Freedom to View statements.

Citizens wishing reconsideration of library materials or programs should complete the "Request for Reconsideration" form below. The form must be completed, signed, and returned to library staff.

After the completed form is returned to the library, a review committee consisting of collection development staff will re-evaluate the material or program using criteria in our Collection Development Policy. The committee will make a recommendation to the Manager of Library Services who will make a final decision. You will be notified in writing of that decision. The Manager of Library Services will make a full report to the City Manager.

The library staff thanks you for your concern.
