If you have a great idea and are thinking about starting a business, we suggest beginning by visiting with our economic development business liaison. Consultation is free and confidential. You’ll get some insight on your concept, get an overview of the business license and permitting steps, and find out what information you’ll need to have before heading to the Small Business Development Center or the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Cochise College Small Business Development Center is staffed with professional business counselors, analysts, and technology specialists who are dedicated to helping you succeed, from start up to expansion, to succession planning.  The SBDC also offers a variety of free classes and seminars on a variety of topics essential to small businesses, as well as business events within the community.

 The Arizona Corporation Commission website is your online destination for creating the legal entity for your business.  Forming an LLC is easy, cheap, and good for the life of your business here in Arizona.  The ACC website also has a helpful 10 step fact sheet on how start a business in AZ.  Your Sierra Vista business liaison is happy to walk you through the process if you have questions!

The U.S. Small Business Administration assists small businesses through loans, loan guarantees, grants, contracts, counseling sessions, and other services.  The SBA also offers a free online learning platform to empower and educate small business owners on your own time.
