Pet Volunteer Program

Dog walking on a leashThe Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center employs the assistance of volunteers. Volunteers are used for administrative duties, caring for the animals, adoption counseling, helping to socialize the animals, transporting the animals to the veterinarian and any other duty that may help our operation.

Our volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

For more information and possible volunteer openings, contact the shelter at (520) 458-4151 or download a Sierra Vista Police Department volunteer application form. Applications are also available at the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center and the completed forms can be submitted at the shelter.

Recycling Program for Pets

The Sierra Vista Animal Control staff collects aluminum cans to raise funding for sick and injured stray animals and other general shelter needs. Please separate the tabs from the cans to increase their value and crush the cans to help save on space. The shelter also accepts the tabs once they are separated.

Arizona Pet Friendly License Plate

Pet License PlateYou can also purchase an Arizona Pet Friendly license plate. The statewide program reallocated $17 of the $25 purchase to a spay and neuter program, providing no-cost or low-cost sterilization surgery for dogs and cats.
