Senior lecturer Rich Thompson, who discovered the official dinosaur of Arizona, will discuss his discovery and its impact. Thompson found the Sonorasaurus fossils in 1995 as a geology student. The Sonorasaurus, which means "Sonora lizard," was named after the Sonora Desert of Arizona. The type of species name, S. Thomsponi, is named in honor of its discoverer.
