Cochise College researchers will summarize scientific research conducted on the American Beaver (Castor canadensis) on the San Pedro River. The reintroduction of beaver in 1999 on the river has brought renewed interest in their key role in shaping the riparian landscape and altering the ecosystem for other organisms. Researchers have been involved in monitoring the river for beaver activity since 2020 and have recently been able to collect biological samples to analyze. Admission is free.
